At the winter festival “Tollwood” in Munich you can visit a very special christmas market. At the “Markt der Ideen”, the ‘market of ideas’, you will not find typical German wafers, glühwein and bratwursts, but international dishes and artistic craftwork from all over the world. Of course, you will also find African delights – culinary specialities, artistic craftwork, bags, accessories and many more original African products.

Since it has been founded in 1988, the festival “Tollwood” has aimed to reflect a multicultural society and live by values like tolerance, internationality and openness. Therefore, the “Markt der Ideen” offers not only products from Africa, but also from India, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, South America and many other countries. Furthermore there is a wide range of events like live music, art exhibitions, theatre performances or comedy shows. In the “Weltsalon”, the ‘world lounge’, current social and ecological problems are discussed – this year about the question what home means. Best of all: Most of the events are free because the festival makers believe everybody should have access to culture.

The festival can be visited until 31 December in Munich on Theresienwiese, the “Markt der Ideen” will be open until 23 December. Click here for further information:
