New York Fashion Week is back! This years autumn edition oft he NYFW 2017 took place from the 7th September until the 14th September to present the spring and summer trends for 2018. Victoria Beckham, Ralph Lauren, Alexander Wang & Co showed us what we should defintely wear in spring time 2018. As usual, the fashion pieces was worn by the most succesful models in the world such as Gigi Hadid and her little sister Bella, Kendall Jenner and Adriana Lima. However, there were particular three models who stole everyone the show:
#1: Precious Lee is the first black plussize model to be featured in the Sport Illustrated and Vogue. Precious walked for Christian Siriano along with other models who don’t fit in the ideal of beauty of fashion shows. Short hair and Size 12 is something we aren’t used to see on one of the most important fashion shows of the world. Precious doesn’t just present designer’s fashion. In fact she puts a statement in the world as well: There are different types of beauty in our world. We should celebrate every single variation of it!
Yo, I walked down a #nyfw runway in a thong y'all….It didn't hit me until I was about to go out and I felt the breeze! lol I enjoyed EVERY second. I feel so free and vibrating so high. Live outside of your comfort zone & aim high baby💫 @theashleygraham for @additionelle @imgmodels #blackgirlmagic #vibratehigher #inspire
#2: Duckie Thot is known for her extraordinary appearance. The sudanese-australian model is often compared to a Barbie because of her almost perfect looks. She is famous for participating in ‘Australia’s Next Topmodel’. Her immaculate skin and complexion reminds a lot of people of Christie, the friend of the blonde Barbie.
#3: Earlier this year at the NYFW, Somali-Australian Halima Aden already heated discussions about her appearance when she walked for Kanye West and his Yeezy collection. Her special feature ist striking: She wears a hijab next to and on the catwalk for religious reasons. She wants to show muslim girls that as a matter of fact, there is a place in the model industry for them. Her life story comes across as quite different from what we know from other models. She was born in a refugee camp and moved to the US at six years old. All this was far from easy for her. Kanye West discovered ther at a Miss election.
Nevertheless, there is something which all three of them have in common: They stand for a new diversity in the modelling business. They break stereotypes, they are role models and they take a part in the progress of becoming a tolerant, multicultural society.
