The Ghana Community Niederbayern e.V. is an aid organization that is primarily involved in vocational education and is a participant of the  MoneyGram afrika! Community Award.

Today, we will present you another participant of the MoneyGram afrika! Community Award. The organisation shows great commitment and MoneyGram, one of the international leaders of money transfer, wants to reward such social dedication. The winners of the award receive a MoneyGram sponsoring for their project supporting the African Diaspora in Germany or Africans in their home country. This is how MoneyGram supports the African community and gives back to the people.

The non-profit association Ghana Community e.V. is primarily committed to vocational education and has been involved in development policy for about 20 years with about 30 members in Germany and Ghana. It has set itself the goal to improve the living conditions of socially disadvantaged people through self-help in Ghana.

In addition, the organisation has a cooperation with the Sewing School Dunkwa Tailoring Foundation in Dunkwa-Offin, which was founded with the help of the association. Furthermore, it has initiated the construction of a school building.

There, young people have the opportunity to gain vocational training and professional qualification through the projects of the association in order to become financially independent and to escape poverty.

Moreover, the local project partners (like the sewing school) cooperate with local organizations. For instance, the sewing school Dinkwa Tailoring Foundation cooperates with the Methodist Hospital in Wenchi, for which the pupils sew work clothes. For this reason, Ghana Community Niederbayern has decided to expand its commitment to providing medical care to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

In 2014, a project was initiated in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Development and Cooperation, which guaranteed some care for relatives of patients, who assist the nurses in taking care of the patients.
